2023 Wrapped: Travel Edition

This year was a whirlwind and what I thought was a slow year for travel for me, turned out to be pretty active.

Let’s dive into the numbers

Countries visited: 10

From cruise stops to layovers, they all count if I explored the area, right? When flying to and from Thailand, I took advantage of a 10 hour layover in Istanbul, Turkey as well as a 15 hour layover in Abu Dhabi.

Flights taken: 31

Teleporting would’ve been a great alternative. My longest flight this year was over 14 hours from Abu Dhabi to NYC! There was a period of time where I woke up well-rested and ready to land only to find out we had an entire 7 hours left. Imagine that feeling.

Nights traveled: 80

I spent a most of my year self-employed which allowed me to travel freely for longer periods of time. It’s safe to say I definitely took advantage of the freedom.

Longest Stay: Phuket, Thailand

I hosted a group trip and we spent the majority of our time in Phuket with a day trip to Phi Phi Islands. A time was had, and if you want to join a group trip in the future, you know where to find me! Join the mailing list for announcements.

Shortest Stay: Chiang Mai, Thailand

I spent about 10 days enjoying Phuket. Afterwards, I visited Chiang Mai for 3 days before heading to Bangkok for 4 more. I would definitely go back to Chiang Mai and stay a little longer. Northern Thai cuisine is amazing, I’m now in love with Khao Soi – a curry noodle soup.

Best Layover: Abu Dhabi

During my 15 hour layover in Abu Dhabi, I was able to see the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. I also tried McDonald’s – don’t judge me, the sauces were delicious!

Top Destination: Mallorca, Spain

Mallorca, Mallorca, Mallorca. Surrounded by the Balearic Sea, there is so much charm on this island. Beautiful villas, stunning views, and good food. I would go back in a heartbeat.

Best Food: Chiang Mai

I fell in love with Khao Soi. No, seriously…the concierge at our hotel gave us a few options for lunch and once they said the word “Michelin”, I was sold. We took a short walk around the corner and tried the Michelin-recommended dish at Kao Soy Nimman. It did not disappoint!

Favorite Moment: Beyoncé in London

Uncle Johnny made my dress…you know the rest. I may have been up at the crack of dawn in the U.S to get these tickets, but I have no regrets.

Something New: Became a certified travel advisor

Yep, I am now certified to book and plan your trips. As a FORA advisor, we have exclusive partnerships with thousands of suppliers to unlock upgrades and perks for our clients. In 2023, I sold about $75,000 in travel  🎉 Now here’s to 2024!
